“World Pediatric Project is working to reach children in the most rural and remote areas of Belize. Working with local midwives, rural health nurses and schoolteachers, WPP is developing a deep network to connect children with advanced medical care. WPP believes that all children have the right to a healthy, full and productive life. And it takes a village to make that vision come to life.
Patients like Giovanni, Blanca and Zane receive therapy at home for conditions like cerebral palsy, spina bifida and clubfoot. These children also receive advanced care from the many WPP surgery teams that visit Belize every year. WPP and Belizean partners work tirelessly to follow known patients and to find new children in need of care.
WPP is also working to build a brighter, healthier future for the children of tomorrow. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, WPP has launched a national program to train doctors, nurses and midwives in newborn resuscitation and neonatal care. The goal is to reduce infant mortality throughout the country by educating and empowering local care providers throughout Belize.” Sarah Iracane, Senior Program Director, World Pediatric Project
